Virtual Meetings are a pheonomenon that is increasingly adapted by leading companies. Cisco Systems recently held its annual summit for 3100 top executives. No one got a plane, but stayed at their office in China, India and the UK and stood in front of high definition screens in conference rooms and communicated via Instant Message utilizing the WebEx Platform that Cisco Owns. The participants responded to more than 10,000 questions which were posted electronically. This most recent event is proof of an increasingly trend by companies to move towards remote collaboration and equipment. Cisco's WebEx and HP's Halo are some of the leading players, along with SecondLife. IBM utilized Second Life for its' meetings throughout 2008. One thing is for sure: It is a tidal wave that can't be stopped. |
