World of Teachcraft

The Learning Quest Part II

Come explore and discuss the use of MMORPGs (Massively multiplayer online role-playing game) in the classroom. This program is a first of it’s kind exploration of 3D gaming environments and how they can be used for more than simply social networking. Our classroom will be in Second Life – Our laboratory in World of Warcraft. You will receive interdisciplinary training in theory of teambuilding, digital citizenship, media literacies, group facilitation, distributed cognition, dynamic decision support, negotiation and much much more.

No experience required

Never been in World of Warcraft before? No problem – we have lots of instructional help to get you through the first opening rounds in how to create a character, what the core elements of the game are, and how to establish your own presence in WOW so that you can apply these learning principles to the classroom. Rockcliffe University is sponsoring two Guilds in WOW Cataclysm on the Norgannon (US) server:

Alliance: Nunquam Redono
Horde: Nunquam Trado

This is a social guild for educators to gain experience and support in using WOW including dungeons, battlegrounds, raids, professions, and questing. Anyone can join. To sign up contact Phelan Corrimal (info@urockcliffe.com) or Kavon Zenovka (que.jinn@gmail.com) in Second Life or via email. Alternatively you can send an in-world email to Corrimal (Alliance) or Volakna (Horde) for an invitation to the guild(s).
